The Icelandic Seal Centre is one of 27 entities nominated to the Icelandic Tourist Board Environmental award in 2009.

The purpose of this award is to draw attention to tourism destinations and companies that are active in environmental affairs, both in their activities and future planning. They can be looked upon as inspiration to both companies and customers to be more aware of the environment and nature and thereby strengthen the tourism industry's future. The award has been given every year since 1005, so this will be the 15th time.

This year's award winner will me announced on the 19th of November.
