These days I´m putting togeather the Icelandic Seal Center's annual newsletter and it's quite nice to see how much we have acheived this year.
For the last few weeks we have been brainstorming about research and projects we could participate in or maybe even started. Our main focus has been on international cooporation through research and product development. On our list are two brand new EU projects and two new North Atlantic projects we hope to get funding for next spring. Some of the project are built on old partnerships but others are establishing new contacts and new partners.
It´s not year clear how much funding the Icelandic Seal Center will get for next year's operations, but it´s pretty clear that the funding will be reduced. To respond to this I and the board have reached a mutual agreement about reducing my position down to 80% for 2010 (or untill enough funding has been secured). This doesn´t mean that we will reduce the work load much, we will do our best with what we´ve got. I´m optimistic.
Best regards
Hrafnhildur Ýr, manager
