Hi everybody,

My Icelandic experience is almost done now…

People from the seal center kindly nicknamed me « shit lady », indeed during these 2 last months I collected 100 faeces and analyzed 197 from 2010 and 2011. I am now an expert in the seal faeces... a new thing to include in my resume I guess J .  The collecting part was really fun because the seals were curious (as were the tourists) and we could see the seals really up close.

Unfortunately time was too short to identify all the otoliths found, but I expect Sandra to tell me the final result and elucidate the mystery of the common seals diet resident in the Hùnaflói bay.

I am really happy of this adventure and I will keep a lot of great landscapes, amazing sunsets (for romantics) and  funny peoples in my mind.

One of my great memories (except all my excursions on the Brimill seal watching boat and the radio tagging of seals) would be the Great Seal Count, when I was alone on the top of the cliff, observing the seals feeding and resting 20 meters lower. It was my perfect moment.

Thanks to the staff of the Seal Center for this amazing adventure  and if you are a tourist then come and visit the NEW seal center !!

Elsa Freschet

Lesson 2 :

Arctic tern=> Kría (be careful they can attack you !),  salad=> iceberg, friend=> vinkona.
